Holistic Health Coaching

Many don’t quite understand what it is that I do as a health coach. Consulting on nutrition, supplements, exercise, biofeedback, and reflexology, is indeed a large part of what I do – yet it is not all. In fact, just about anybody can be assisted by a Holistic Health Coach. Most of us share inadequate life styles, which although may look at times, near perfect, in reality it is lacking the holistic understanding of how we live, and what causes us to suddenly become sick. Heart attacks, strokes, diabetes, or cancer although may hit us as a surprise, are rarely surprising, if we analyze victim’s life in a holistic way. In many cases illness can be prevented by a change in certain parameters of our life style. A simple example is the impact of ceasing to smoke on our health and wellbeing. We should question ourselves, even when we feel fine, whether or not we indeed pursue our life in an optimal way. Are we eating optimally? Let us be honest. Could we have more vegetables and less dessert? Could we cut back on the caffeine? Are we so called, “carbusters” or carboholic? Do we crave salt and/or sugar? You, sir/madam, are you exercising every day, or are you too busy until the weekend, and then too tired to get anything done? Do you need to lose weight? How do you feel when you stand in front of a full-length mirror naked? Does that thought cause you to feel uncomfortable? If you take medication for migraines, indigestion, diabetes, blood pressure or depression, do you ever wonder if you can get off the medications and feel naturally healthy? Yet another familiar theme is how do you deal with stress? Do you grab for a jar of cookies or your favorite cocktail, or are you capable to understand that you may be repeatedly causing yourself harm?

What is the nature of your relationships with others: your friends, your spouse, your children, your extended family, or your co-workers? Is everything indeed “perfect” – or is there room for improvement? I could go on asking other, additional and “embarrassing” questions, but I don’t claim to have all of the above nailed down completely myself… that’s why I have a health coach too. But I to used to be a person who “felt fine” no matter what. At some period in my life I failed to see the connection between the massive amount of sweets, and falling into a deep sleep then waking up feeling like I had a hangover. I didn’t see what I was doing to my health. After several years of working on myself, and licking some permanent ‘wounds’ I suffered, I finally “got it” and I want to share my findings with you. I can relate to you and help you work through those issues. I believe in working on myself to achieve my best health and my full potential – do you?

The way we can work together:

Step 1: New clients fill out a form with health-related questions. Once the questionnaire is returned to me, I go through it with you in-depth to really get at the root of your health concerns and your goals.

Step 2: We, jointly, come up with a plan for you for the next 6 months. This plan may change as we work together, depending on how quickly your mind and body responds to the changes we make. Since we jointly decide on the path you will take, there is little if any, anxiety involved– I will not “ban” your favorite indulging food, or coerce you to stop smoking. I’d rather introduce you to new, tasty foods and habits and let you decide whether or not you need your old comfort foods, and your share of nicotine.

Step 3: The usual way is to meet every 2 weeks, to discuss your progress, your questions and hardships; and to take cautious steps toward you’re agreed upon target – your wellness. Here are some of the ways I can help you:

Primary foods

Your relationships, career, spirituality, and your exercise routine, are considered PRIMARY FOODS for the purpose of our interaction. What you actually eat, your actual food is considered as secondary, in this context.

Nutrition

We will observe how you’re nourishing yourself and at whatever does food and nourishment actually mean to you. Are you eating for optimal energy and vitality? I may recommend a new food, a new recipe, or a new supplement to try.

Exercise

In addition to being a Holistic Health Coach, I am also a trained and certified AIS (Active Isolated Stretching) therapist, reflexologist, bio-feedback therapist, aromatherapist , shiatsu therapist and teacher . I will make workout recommendations that work with your lifestyle, whether you can and are willing to practice 15 minutes a day, or an hour a day. I may also recommend different relaxation techniques.
